Siblings of former Ohio State University quarterback join Michigan basketball team

The Michigan basketball program added another commitment on Sunday. Jessica Fields, a 6-foot-1 forward, joined the Wolverines.

She is Michigan’s second new signing for the class of 2025, joining four-star guard McKenzie Mathurin, who committed on Wednesday.

Fields is the sister of Justin Fields, the former Ohio State quarterback who was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bears in 2021 and now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her sister Jaiden is playing her final season with the Georgia softball team. Justin began his college career at Georgia.

Jessica Fields is not listed in the ESPN Top 100 for 2025. She chose Michigan over Northwestern and Georgetown after visiting all three.

She told On3 that new Michigan assistant coach Justine Raterman recruited her to Marquette for several years.

“When she moved to Michigan, she brought me in,” Fields told On3. “I think they were actually one of the last schools to actually offer me, but I knew what they had to offer academically and their program was pretty good. The girls were super nice and we had a little game night, so I got a good feel for the team dynamic and the culture.”

Colleges were after Fields before she even got to high school. She appreciated Michigan’s track record of player development. Prospects can sign national letters of intent during the early signing period in early November.
