Sir David Jason and Jay Blades are ready to hit the road for “Touring Toolshed”.
The Only Fools and Horses legend is swapping sitcoms for a “heartwarming” series on BBC Two in which he pursues his passion for fixing broken objects alongside his friend, a furniture restorer best known as the presenter of the hit show The Repair Shop.
They will “help the public, professional makers and enthusiasts take their craft to the next level.”
David, 83, and Jay, 53, will take their tool shed to “Britain’s air shows, steam rallies, fairs and vintage car festivals to meet some of Britain’s most talented craftsmen, makers and tinkerers – as well as people who could use a little help.”
The Open All Hours star said: “It’s great to be back on the country’s TV screens doing something completely different. I’ve played a lot of roles in my life but being myself, showing my creative passion and helping the wonderful people we meet along the way solve the problems of their mechanical masterpieces is very fulfilling. I’ve really enjoyed being on the road with Jay, we’ve built a great friendship and had a lot of fun and I hope viewers will enjoy it when it airs.”
Jay commented: “Working with Sir David Jason, an equally passionate craftsman, is a dream come true. Filming is underway and it’s been great to help the nations’ craftsmen bring their passion projects to life. We’ve met some great people and this series will be a real delight for BBC Daytime and iPlayer audiences.”

This new series will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in 2024.
