SJTA chief writes to ASI DG for inspection and repair work of Ratna Bhandar | Pragativadi

Puri: As per the decision of the Administrative Committee, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee wrote a letter to the ASI DG requesting to conduct early inspection of Ratna Bhandar in Puri Srimandir and complete the repair work.

He also requested the ASI to use laser scanning and GPRS technology for inspection purposes. As per the standard operating procedures (SOP) approved by the state government, the ASI will take responsibility for the conservation and repair work after the migration process of the outer and inner gems is completed.

The letter stressed that the latest technology should be used for the survey to ensure that the temple remains intact. Moreover, the state government’s SOP for the comprehensive technical survey has been forwarded to the ASI.

It is recommended that the ASI should involve reputed institutions like IIT and CBRI for this technical assessment. The ASI has been asked to start the conservation and repair work immediately after completion of the thorough technical inspection of the Ratna Bhandar.

In his letter, Padhee demanded that the inventory of jewels and valuables in the makeshift Ratna Bhandar be identified and then returned to the original Bhandar.
