Snapchat now has a native iPad app

It’s been a jam-packed year for Apple, with the company making headlines several times this year. On September 9, we’re expecting a lot of releases from the Cupertino giant. From the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch series to several software upgrades for their devices, including the iPad. But just before the launch event, Snapchat has quietly released something for iPad users.

It’s Glowtime: Apple officially announces the launch event for the iPhone 16

It’s official! Apple has announced “It’s Glowtime,” the slogan for its 2024 launch event, which will take place in a few weeks.

Although the iPad has been around longer than the app, there was never a native iPad version of the app. You could run the iPhone app on the iPad, but it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience because the app wasn’t properly optimized.

This meant that you had unnecessarily large black spaces on the sides and awkwardly placed icons and images. With the native app, all of these inconveniences have been addressed, allowing you to experience the app in all its glory, but on a much larger screen.

It should be noted, however, that the app forces you to use it in portrait mode as it doesn’t seem to support landscape mode. Hopefully this will be updated and fixed at some point. But other than that, you can enjoy the ninth most popular social media platform – according to Statistaproperly adjusted to a larger screen.

This also gives it a slight edge over other social media platforms like Instagram, which, for reasons known only to them, have not yet developed a native iPad version. According to Apple InsiderThe reason why Instagram developers have not developed a native iPad app is because they believe the market is not big enough yet.

With the growing number of native iPad apps and the growing Snapchat offering, it stands to reason that the iPad market is slowly growing. Plus, there are a lot of changes coming to iPadOS 18, so we can expect to see more apps for iPad users over time.
