‘Sorry about the motherboard issues’: OnePlus responds after charging ₹42,000 to repair a phone that now costs ₹38,700

OnePlus has once again found itself in a pickle after several users of former flagship devices complained about faulty motherboards. As mentioned in a post by OnePlus Club, several users of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 10 series reported issues with faulty motherboards, claiming that the company failed to provide them with support. Some OnePlus users who experienced this issue shared their story on social media posts and the OnePlus community forum. The reason behind the issue is not yet known, but it is worth noting that the user complaints shared in the X post are from the past two months.

42000 to repair OnePlus 10 Pro 5G which now costs 38,700

One of the users announced in the forum that the OnePlus service center about 42000 to repair the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G with a defective motherboard. For comparison, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is currently available at 44,499 on Flipkart. According to the user, “downloaded the update suggested by my phone, then opened Hotstar and received OTP to login. My phone started beeping continuously and froze. When I tried to restart it, it was dead.” After receiving harsh reactions on social media, OnePlus has now issued a statement regarding the issue.

OnePlus’ opinion on the defective motherboard problem

Here’s what OnePlus has to say about the faulty motherboard issue: “We regret to hear of some recent cases where users are experiencing certain issues with the device’s motherboard on their OnePlus 9 and 10 Pro. While we are still investigating the cause, we want to assure you that we are committed to resolving the issue for affected users as quickly as possible. We understand that motherboard repairs can be costly, but we are working hard to make them more affordable.
