What’s next for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band?

Shows in the U.S. and Canada, beginning with the Thursday, August 15 show at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. Concerts throughout the rest of the year are mostly rescheduled dates from 2023, but the only new show is the headlining performance on Sunday, September 15 at the Sea Hear Now Festival on the beach in Asbury Park.

There will then be four shows in Europe in 2025, taking place from the end of May to the beginning of July and are catch-up dates from earlier this year.

So can fans expect further show announcements?

“You never know,” band member Steven Van Zandt told Britain’s Telegraph last week. “I mean, we treat every show like it could be the last, and we’ve been doing that for 50 years. But the audience is still there and we see it getting younger every year.”

European fans experience the music on a different level. English Springsteen fans turned “Dancing in the Dark” into a song during the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany this summer.

“To be honest, I don’t see an end in sight, especially in Europe where we’re bigger than we’ve ever been,” Van Zandt said. “I think we can play every summer forever, man.”

Speaking of Europe, the rescheduled 2025 shows in France, the Czech Republic and Italy are spread out so that it’s safe to assume more will be added. The shows were postponed in May due to Springsteen’s “vocal issues,” which came after a May 22 performance at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, England, that was reportedly chilly and rainy.

Due to Springsteen’s stomach ulcers, the 2023 concerts have been postponed.

The Boss is 74 and Van Zandt is 73. Roy Bittan, the oldest member of the E Street Band, is 75.

There are precedents for rock’n’roll in old age. Bob Dylan, who played Jersey twice this summer, is 83. “Jersey Boy” Frankie Valli, 90, on a “Last Encores” tour, shows no signs of slowing down.

The Rolling Stones – Mick Jagger is 81, Keith Richards 80 – played two triumphant shows at MetLife Stadium in May.

“I love that the Stones are still here,” Van Zandt said. “Because as long as they’re here, man, we’re still the new kids on the block, right? So I’m happy with that.”

Van Zandt and his TeachRock Foundation will present “Stories from the Road” with filmmaker Thom Zimny on Thursday, August 22, at Asbury Lanes. Band members Roy Bittan, Garry Tallent and Max Weinberg will participate. Behind the lens will be Pam Springsteen (Bruce’s sister). Rob DeMartin and Nicki Germaine will also be there.

The event, which coincides with the upcoming “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band” on Hulu and Disney+ in October, will take place between E Street’s shows at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Wednesday, August 21, and Friday, August 23.
