Staunton Augusta Art Center Art in the Park Labor Day Weekend

STAUNTON – As summer draws to a close, Staunton is gearing up for one of its most anticipated cultural events: the 57th annual Art in the Park, presented by the Staunton Augusta Art Center. The two-day festival will take place Labor Day weekend at Gypsy Hill Park and promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity, community and culture.

This year’s Art in the Park will take place on August 31st from 10am-5pm and September 1st from 11am-5pm and will showcase the works of over 70 artists from Staunton, Augusta County and beyond. The event has become a staple in the community, attracting art lovers, families and visitors who appreciate the opportunity to interact with artists and explore a diverse range of artwork.

From intricate jewelry and handcrafted ceramics to stunning paintings and sculptures, the variety of art on display offers something for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just looking for a unique piece to take home, you’ll find a wide variety of artistic expressions.

But the event isn’t just about art. The Staunton Augusta Art Center has put together a full experience, including a number of local food trucks that will offer a variety of delicious foods throughout the weekend, SAAC said in a press release. Guests can enjoy everything from gourmet sandwiches to sweet treats, so there’s something for every taste.

The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by music that fills the air, creating the perfect backdrop for a day of artistic discovery and providing a soundtrack that enhances the park’s vibrant energy.

For 57 years, Art in the Park has been a central event in Staunton, fostering a deep sense of community and providing a platform for artists to share their work with the public. The Staunton Augusta Art Center, which organizes the event, is dedicated to promoting the arts in the region and ensuring that this tradition continues to thrive.

“Art in the Park is not just an art show; it’s a celebration of the creativity and spirit of our community,” said Angus Carter, executive director of the Staunton Augusta Art Center. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to Gypsy Hill Park for a weekend of art, food, music and fun. As the event draws closer, the anticipation among artists and visitors grows. Many participants have been preparing for months and can’t wait to share their latest creations with the public, SAAC said. For visitors, it’s a chance to discover new talent, meet the artists and maybe even learn about the inspiration behind the works on display.
