ROCKY POINT – Stephen “Steve” Wayne Merritt, 69, of Rocky Point, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
He was born on April 30, 1955 in Wilmington to Rosie Price Merritt Lewis and the late Aubrey Norman Merritt.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Dickens Merritt, his sons Stephen Wayne Merritt, Jr. and Gaspin Anthony Merritt, his granddaughter Chloe Isabella Merritt, his sister Lisa Myrick (Rocky), his brothers Norman Merritt (Fran) and Tony Merritt, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Steve was a service department manager for several car dealerships in North Carolina. Many may remember Steve at Shaffer Buick and BMW in Wilmington.
He loved watching sports, especially football, and cheering for his favorite teams. Most of all, Steve was a family man, a devoted husband, and a loving father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. We will cherish the fond memories of Steve.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship, 12646 US Hwy 117, Rocky Point, NC. A celebration of life will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Rocky Myrick officiating.
