Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo has spoken about a recent “uncomfortable” interaction with a fan.
The actor appears in the hit Netflix series as Dustin Henderson alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin.
The popularity of the show has catapulted the young actors to superstar status alongside their established co-stars Winona Ryder and David Harbour.
Their celebrity status has led to some awkward moments with fans. Matarazzo recounted one such incident in which he claimed a woman “in her 40s” admitted to being attracted to the actor when he was 13 years old.

Matarazzo spoke about meeting fans on the podcast “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum”: “Funny is one way of putting it. Some people find it a little uncomfortable. For example, I remember having one recently where it wasn’t funny, but the reactions to it were pretty funny. There was a woman in her 40s who said straight out, ‘I’ve had a crush on you since you were 13,’ and I thought, ‘That’s annoying.'”
The Prank Encounters star went on to say he thought she meant something else, but she instead stuck to her claim.
“I’m sure she just said something like, ‘Oh, that kid is cute,’ but then she insisted, ‘I’m aware of the age difference.’ Then I thought, ‘Oh well,'” he continued.

Matarazzo claimed that the woman’s daughter was with her during the conversation and was shocked by what she said.
“Her daughter was with her,” he said. “And her daughter said, ‘Mommy, what the hell is going on?’ I swear to God, this girl must have been about 13.”
He said he had to hold back his laughter at that moment: “I just thought, ‘Thank you for coming!’ My mom was right there, my mother was sitting next to me. It was crazy.”
A fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production and is scheduled to be released in 2025.
