Strictly star Amy Dowden reveals secrets about hair growth after chemotherapy

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has revealed secrets about her hair regrowth after chemotherapy.

The dancer was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer last year and underwent chemotherapy, forcing her to sit out the final season of the BBC show.

As part of her treatment, which ended in late 2023, Amy shaved off her hair and has now spoken about the regrowth process on Instagram.

“So many people ask about my hair growth and how it can grow so fast!” she told her followers in her stories. “Thanks to @_thegoodnessguide. She gave me the bone broth…

“I’ll share a video of how I do it later and you’ll see the difference in my hair growth over the past few months! Hope this helps. And look, it’s grown back curly.”

Amy will return to the Strictly dancefloor later this year and already has a full line-up for 2025 as well, having just announced a tour with fellow pro Carlos Gu for next March and April.

Amy & Carlos: Reborn will tour across the UK, with the couple presenting “an intimate portrait of their lives and journeys in this inspirational show that explores the transformative power of dance.”

“Featuring a stunning cast of world-class dancers and singers, the tour takes audiences on an emotional and uplifting journey through powerful and breathtaking routines,” the description continues. “Reborn is a testament to the joy of dancing.”

Amy will also appear in a new BBC documentary about her cancer journey called Amy Dowden: Fight of My Life. The documentary gives a “raw, deeply personal and honest” account of her chemotherapy treatment and the support she received throughout it.

Be sure to come and dance will return to BBC One later this year, while the spin-off Strictly speaking: It takes two is broadcast on weekdays on BBC Two. Both shows can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
