String and Shadow perform a show at the Center for Fine Arts

PORT ANGELES – String and Shadow present “Or So It Would Seam: A Giant Puppet Voyage into the Hidden Universe” on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Olympia-based troupe will perform at Webster’s Woods at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Tickets are $20 per person, $14 for those under 18, and are available at https://pafac.kindful.com/e/string-shadow-or-so-it-would-seam.

The show is written, created and performed by String and Shadow, a troupe of interdisciplinary performance artists known for their creations of massive puppet shows with live music.

The troupe uses papier-mâché, cardboard, bamboo and fabric, as well as other found and recycled materials, to create the giant puppets and masks featured in their shows.

“We are thrilled to welcome String and Shadow back to Webster’s Woods,” said Rachel Storck, the arts center’s director of community engagement. “Last year’s performance of ‘Ship of Fools’ set the bar high for creative storytelling, and we can’t wait to see what these artists have put together for their latest production. It will be a fun and engaging show for people of all ages.”

“Or So It Would Seam,” String and Shadow’s fifth original show, will feature a cast of 13 performers/musicians.

A mix of whimsical fairy tale, space odyssey and slapstick clown show, the show follows Space Way assistant driver Captain Z as a mysterious distress signal causes him to enter a mystical dimension.

Participants are asked to bring a blanket, a deck chair and a picnic on the lawn. Allocation of places begins at 5:30 p.m.
