A few days ago we told you how Tata Nexon loses its top spot. Mahindra has added to the loss by launching the new XUV 3XO, the direct competitor of the Tata Nexon. With the competition beating the Nexon, Tata has decided to reduce the prices of the SUV and has launched new variants. Tata has launched new base variants for diesel and petrol engines. Moreover, the petrol variant has also received attractive discounts, but with additional new features! So, let’s take a look at the revised price of the Tata Nexon.

Tata Nexon Price – New Diesel Variants
First, let’s talk about the big news – the new Nexon is Rs 1.11 lakh cheaper! Previously, Tata offered a diesel engine for the Pure variant Nexon. The Pure Diesel Nexon was priced at Rs 13.22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Now, Tata has launched two new base variants for the Nexon – Smart and Smart+. Out of these, the Smart variant costs Rs 12.11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), which is Rs 1.11 lakh cheaper. The Smart+ variant, on the other hand, costs around Rs 12.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Also, note that these variants were launched with a manual transmission.
Also, Tata Motors has not drastically reduced the features of the new diesel base variant. The Smart variant of the Nexon gets features like – 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen by Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four speakers, rear camera, shark fin antenna, steering wheel controls, all four power windows and power side mirrors.

New petrol variants and discounts
For the petrol variants too, Tata has introduced new base variants. Previously, the Nexon petrol variant – Smart – was priced at Rs 9.59 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The new Smart variant (O), on the other hand, was priced at around Rs 9.40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This too is available only with the 5-speed manual transmission. So, the difference with the petrol variant may not be much but it can play a big role for the brand. That’s not all, the Smart+ variant gets a discount of Rs 31,000 while the Smart+ S variant gets a discount of Rs 41,000.
Even though the base variant is now cheaper, Tata has paid attention to safety and other features. You still get features like 6 airbags, ESP, LED headlights and fog lights, drive modes, front power windows and rear parking sensors. The Smart+ variant, on the other hand, now gets a rear view camera as a new feature, even after the discount!

Tata Nexon Price – Engine Specifications
Tata Nexon is available with two engine options – 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. This engine is available with three transmission options – 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DCA. In the new base variants, you get only a 5-speed manual transmission.
The 1.5-liter diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 113 hp and 260 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AMT transmission. With the new diesel base variants, you only have the option of a 6-speed manual transmission!
