Taylor Swift did her own hair and makeup for the promotional material for her two lockdown albums “Folklore” and “Evermore.”
The 34-year-old singer released the records as a surprise for her fans during the Covid pandemic and revealed the secrets of their creation during her “Eras Tour” stop at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
She told her fans: “I started producing ‘Folklore’ about two days after the pandemic started.
“It was just a huge challenge for us as creators, but it was so fulfilling.
“Then it was time to take some pictures for the album. You can’t have hair or makeup, you can’t have a wardrobe, you just have to do it yourself.
“So I called my friend who has a forest behind her house and asked, ‘Can I take some photos in your forest?’ And she said, ‘Yes.'”
“I ordered and bought all these nightgowns online and then did my own hair and makeup… and I was just like, ‘I guess I’m going to braid it? I don’t know.'”
The photos of her in this look were taken by photographer Beth Garrabrant and show Taylor with two braided buns.
“Folklore” was released on July 24, 2020, and months later, on December 11 of the same year, Taylor surprised her fans again with the release of her ninth studio album “Evermore.”
Taylor also told her fans that producing albums is usually a “collaborative” process, but that during the lockdown she had to find new ways to collaborate and make music together with producers Jack Antonoff (40) and Aaron Dessner (48) across the distance.
Taylor took the lead in songwriting and recording at home, while Jack and Aaron helped over the phone.
Taylor mentioned her hair again in an Instagram post after her show in Hamburg, saying it exposed her “tousled” look.
Their “Eras Tour” takes them to Munich on Saturday (27.07.24) and Sunday.
She will then travel to Austria and Poland for performances in early August, with the European leg of Taylor’s record-breaking tour ending with a five-day appearance in London, after she spent three nights in the capital earlier this summer.
