Tesla buyers in the US military can get ,000 off the purchase of a Cybertruck

Tesla buyers in the U.S. military can now receive a $1,000 discount on the purchase of the Cybertruck, the company announced on its website last week.

On Friday, it was discovered that Tesla had added the Cybertruck to its online military purchasing program, giving active and former U.S. military personnel a $1,000 discount on purchases of the company’s electric vehicles. While the program originally offered the deal on purchases of Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y, the Cybertruck has now been added, meaning the discount is available on Tesla’s entire electric vehicle lineup.

“Get $1,000 off any new Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck,” Tesla writes on the website. “Offer valid for military veterans, retirees, active duty soldiers and their spouses to honor those who have served our country. Discount will be applied at time of order. Unlimited availability.”

The contract currently covers units of Tesla’s Cybertruck “Foundation Series,” which are the launch edition of the electric pickup truck and are expected to be the only Cybertrucks delivered until around the end of November.

Since June, Tesla Cybertruck owners have also received $2,500 in vouchers toward the purchase of Powershare Home Backup hardware.

Tesla opened orders for Foundation Series Cybertrucks over the weekend through its website’s order configurator, after initially requiring buyers to pay $100 for a reservation to eventually take delivery of the electric vehicle. Now, buyers can simply purchase the vehicle through Tesla’s website, with orders shipping within the next few months.

Last week, Tesla began offering test drives of the Cybertruck and the company began taking orders for the vehicle in Canada and Mexico.

Tesla has been ramping up production of the Cybertruck since it first began delivering to customers last November, and the company said during its recent second-quarter 2024 earnings call that it expects the truck to break even early next year.
