Textile retailer Alex Mill opens store at 2K-SF Rockefeller Center – Commercial Observer

A new clothing store is being built Rockefeller Center in time to attract the attention of Christmas shoppers milling around the giant Christmas tree.

Clothing brand Alex Mill opens an outpost in Tishman Speyer‘S 1 Rockefeller Plaza after he signed a lease for a 1,752 square meter store, according to the landlord.

The landlord declined to disclose terms of the deal, but the average rent for retail space on Fifth Avenue between East 49th and East 59th streets was $2,609 per square foot in the second quarter of 2024. according to a report by CBRE.

“Alex Mill is a prime example of the kind of creative companies that Rockefeller Center likes to bring to campus,” EB KellySenior Managing Director of Tishman Speyer, said in a statement. “Craftsmanship and attention to detail are in our blood as stewards of Rockefeller Center, so this is a perfect fit.”

Tishman Speyer did not disclose the names of the brokers involved in the deal.

Alex Mill was founded in 2012 by Alex Drexler with financial support from his father Millard “Mickey” Drexlerwho serves as chairman. Millard Drexler was the founder of Old Navy And Madewelland former CEO of gap And J.Crew.

The clothing brand currently has brick-and-mortar stores in 77 Mercer Street in SoHo and 1182 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side, as well as a summer pop-up store at 60 parking spaces in East Hampton. The company plans to open the new location in Rockefeller Center in time for the holiday season.
