The Augustana football team is pleased to have Jarod Epperson back for another year

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – The Augustana football team will have many new faces, especially on offense.

But just before camp began, they also received the great news that Jarod Epperson had been granted one final year of eligibility.

He could be the school’s all-time best runner, but he brings a lot more to the table. And the team couldn’t be happier to have their powerful running back leading the way on and off the field.

Augustana FB coach Jerry Olszewski says, “It was really great. It was a great arm boost because it wasn’t made official until the second day of fall camp and the team was excited. Jarod is a great team player, he’s the most competitive young man I’ve ever had. He trained his body for a professional career and that’s why he was born healthy. It might be fortunate for Mark that he didn’t suffer as much damage in spring ball. He’s probably the healthiest he’s been since his freshman year.”

Augie Senior RB Kyle Graham says, “Jarod brings a certain sharpness and energy that increases everyone’s energy and competitiveness. He brings out the best in you.”

The Vikings are coming off a great season that ended with a loss in the playoffs. That was a motivation for many of these players. Their first regular season game is Thursday, September 5th at Mary. The following Saturday they are in Brookings to play the Jackrabbits.
