Find out what really makes a champion on this digital platform.

This set includes plenty of cards that can help you thwart your opponent’s tactics, and others that let your Pokémon use Poison to increase the damage they do. From legendary Pokémon with game-winning attacks to powerful Trainer cards, these are the top ten cards in the Pokémon TCG: Shrouded Fable expansion.

10 Kyurem

A triple knockout

Kyurem is one of the coolest legendary Pokémon of all time, and it gets a major upgrade in Shrouded Fable. Trifrost requires a whopping five Energy from two different types, but the damage it deals is well worth the price.

If you deal 110 damage to not one but three of your opponent’s Pokémon, the game can be instantly over if you manage to knock out three Pokémon. If your opponent happens to have a Colorress in their discard pile, the move can only be used for a colorless Energy.

9 Genesect

No more Ace glasses

Genesect is a special Pokémon, and its newest ability is nothing to be sniffed at. Since Ace Specs are some of the most powerful cards in the game, it can be a great tool to shut down your opponent’s ability to use them.

As long as Genesect has a Pokemon Tool, you can prevent them from using Ace Spec cards from their hand. Setting this up early in the game can cut off one of their most useful options.

8 Binding Mochi

Poison becomes power

Many of the cards introduced in Shrouded Fable have neat little abilities that pair well with Poison. Binding Mochi takes advantage of this mechanic by allowing Pokémon that possess this Pokémon Tool to hit harder.

10 ways the Pokémon Trading Card Game has changed since 2003

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is one of the most influential card games of all time, but how has it changed since 2003?

The best part is that it is not tied to a specific Pokémon type, such as GX or Evolution. The only requirement for using it is that the Pokémon carrying it must be Poisoned, then you can deal an additional 40 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon.

7 Okidogi EX

A heavyweight

Okidogi EX is a great Pokemon for any beat-down fan. For one Energy, Poisonous Musculature can search the deck for two Basic Dark Energy cards and attach them to Okidogi EX, making it ready to use its second attack, Chain-Crazed, next turn.

Chain-Crazed does 130 damage on its own and 260 damage if Okidogi EX is poisoned. Luckily, the first turn does this for you, so in most cases you’ll have a strong Pokémon ready to quickly take on your opponents.

6 Xerosics Plan

Secret hand disorder

Sometimes you just don’t want your opponent to have too many cards in their hand. Thankfully, you can deal with that with Xerosic’s Machinations. Playing this supporter card forces your opponent to discard all but three of their cards.

This can be a good way to get rid of some of their options or to even the playing field after your opponent has built up their deck a lot. The only downside is that they get to choose what to send.

5 Pecharunt EX

Floating stone on legs

Perharunt EX is another card that focuses on Poison and has a really powerful Ability to do so. Subjugating Chains is a Float Stone for your Dark-type Pokémon, but as a card on your Bench. Once per turn, you can switch one of your Actives with your Benched Pokémon.

Pokemon TCG: The most valuable cards in Shrouded Fable

Shrouded Fable is the 2024 special set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game with lots of cool cards to play and collect.

The only downside is that it gets poisoned instead of paying the retreat cost. It also helps as a late-game tactic, as Irritated Outburst deals 60 damage for each Prize card your opponent took, so that’s a maximum of 300 damage for just two Dark Energies.

4 Fezandipiti EX

Your Pokémon have life insurance

Fezandipiti EX has an ability that could fit into any deck. Flip the Script lets you draw three cards if your opponent manages to knock out one of your Pokémon during their last turn. While ideally you don’t want your Pokémon to get pushed around, it’s nice to get some compensation when it happens.

Cruel Arrow is also a good move if Fezandipiti EX is forced into action. For three Colorless Energy, it can deal 100 damage to one of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon, so if you’re in a tight spot but can grab a Prize card, this can be a good way to do it.

3 Janine’s secret art

Play energy faster

Janine’s Secret Art is a Supporter card that fits the Dark-type tactics introduced in Shrouded Fable. Choose two of your Dark-type Pokémon from either the Bench or Active Mode and search the deck for your Dark Energies.

Then attach one of each to your chosen Pokémon. Again, your Pokémon will be poisoned if you use this supporter, but if you’re using dark Pokémon from this set, it’s most likely more of an advantage than a disadvantage. Plus, it lets you attach more than one Energy per turn, which is always a plus.

2 Night carrier

Search your discard pile

Night Stretcher may not seem like the most important card in the world, but the wording can make all the difference. While many cards can give you Energy from your discard pile to your hand, the ability to put any Pokémon you want into your hand is a nice effect.

Night Stretcher doesn’t specify if the Pokémon has to be Basic or EX. Because of this, it can grab any Pokémon that was knocked out too early and add it directly to your hand, making it playable right away.

1 Neutralization zone

Too many rule fields

Neutralization Zone, Pokemon Trading Card Game Card Art.

Neutralization Zone is one of those cards that rule-boxed Pokémon hates, so if you want to keep your deck nice and simple, Neutralization Zone can make it immune to attacks from your opponent’s EX or V Pokémon.

This can be a great tactic to keep the stronger Pokémon at bay while forcing your opponent to switch out to damage you. Plus, if they play Stadium cards, they have to hope they have another card to put in their place.
