BOYERTOWN – The Boyertown Community Library will be closed August 12-17 for ongoing HVAC repairs.

In the summer of 2022, problems began to arise with the library’s HVAC system and staff have been working to repair the system ever since.

“Over the past two years, we have had to close on some very hot summer days because our system could not keep the building cool. Our utility bills have also been extremely high because the system is so inefficient,” Boyertown Community Library Director Denise Pulgino Stout and Assistant Library Director Sairra Cloen said in a statement.

12 very large fan coil units need to be replaced, six of which are located on the ground floor of the library.

The employees are eagerly awaiting the completion of the repair work.

“Now we don’t have to worry about heat waves! This will ensure that we don’t have to close the library during our busy summer season. We also hope to see an improvement in utility costs,” said the director and deputy director.

The estimated cost of the project is more than $90,000.

“We have applied for a very large reimbursement grant from the state and hope to hear the outcome in September. We have funds from the sale of the old library and another building to cover the initial costs,” Pulgino Stout and Cloen said in the statement.
