The BRIDGE NY program awards grants to counties and cities for bridge repairs

The state is giving Oneida County nearly $2.8 million to replace the Brewer Road bridge over West Branch Fish Creek in the city of Camden.

It is the most expensive project in Oneida County, funded by the New York State Department of Transportation’s latest $484 million BRIDGE NY program.

This money will fund 216 projects carried out by 137 local governments across the state.

Here are the area bridges that received funding in this round:

Oneida County

  • $2.8 million to Oneida County to replace the Brewer Road bridge over West Branch Fish Creek in the Town of Camden.
  • $2.5 million to Oneida County to replace the Route 50 bridge over Stony Creek in the Town of Verona.
  • $2.4 million to the City of Kirkland to replace the Norton Avenue/Route 15A bridge over Oriskany Creek.
  • $1.5 million for the City of Verona to replace the Woodcreek Road culvert, which carries a tributary to Wood Creek.

  • $0.9 million to the City of Kirkland to replace the Craig Road culvert on Sherman Brook.

Herkimer County

  • $1.6 million to the City of German Flatts to replace the Pine Bush Road bridge over the Fulmer Creek tributary.
  • $1.5 million to the Herkimer County Highway Department for the replacement of the Bleecker Street/Route 241 culvert, which carries a tributary to the Mohawk River in the City of Frankfort.
  • $1 million to Herkimer County for the Dyke Road/Route 37 bridge over Ferguson Creek in the City of Frankfort.
  • $0.9 million for the City of Herkimer to replace the culvert on Osborne Hill Road, which carries a tributary to West Canada Creek.
  • $0.8 million to the City of Herkimer for the Shells Bush Road bridge over West Canada Creek.
  • $0.8 million to Herkimer County for the Bleecker Street Extension/Route 241 bridge over Ferguson Creek in the City of Frankfort.

Madison County

  • $2.1 million to the Madison County Highway Department to replace the Creek Road/Route 29 bridge over Cowaselon Creek.
  • $1.5 million for the City of DeRuyter to replace the Williams Road culvert that carries the middle branch of the Tioughnioga Creek.
  • $1.2 million for the City of Lenox to replace the Lewis Street culvert through which the Canastota Creek flows.

The BRIDGE NY program supports counties and municipalities in rehabilitating or replacing bridges and culverts so that they can better withstand extreme weather and the impacts of climate change.
