Despite the long waiting times that fans have to endure between seasons, one of the the best Netflix shows available to stream will always be his Hawkins-set horror drama, and fans are desperate for Stranger Things Season 5 to finally arrive. (Even if it is not on the TV schedule 2024.) One of the biggest concerns of the audience is Sadie Sink’s Max, who is End of the fourth seasonNow the Duffer brothers have fueled that fear even further with their latest comments.
Sink himself was interviewed by diversity about her current status as a popular young Hollywood star and how she has overcome the hurdles that come with fame. Since all eyes will be on her when Stranger Things When the series returned, questions naturally arose about the health of fan-favorite Max, which it hinted at in a way that made it clear the character will be active, though not in what capacity. Matt and Ross Duffer provided a little more context, but in a way that made things seem a little more concerning for Max and/or possibly Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas. In their words:
- Matt Duffer: She will play a role in the season
- Ross Duffer: But we don’t want to reveal how that’s possible.
- Matt Duffer: Right, because she’s in a coma. … I think she’s just become more confident as an actress and in her choices. We shot a scene with her the other day that was just absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t know how she hits those notes.
It is quite interesting that Matt Duffer mentions Max’s coma in a conversation and praises Sadie Sink for her acting choices. Admittedly, I guess she could she succeeds in making some top-notch coma acting choices that really bring the house down, but it seems like she’s just lying there in these scenes without much acting needed.
So you’d have to imagine that the “heartbreaking” scene the co-creator mentions probably doesn’t take place in Max’s hospital bed. And considering she’s already lost her semi-reformed asshole brother Billy, I’m not entirely sure what heartbreaking moments she could have where neither she nor Lucas would have to deal with something tragic.
So could Matt Duffer have meant Lucas’ death? Or maybe it’s a scene where she has to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and he means her departure from others. I could probably continue down this traumatic path with a number of other theories about what could go wrong, but nobody needs that kind of stress this long before Season 5 comes out.
Sadie Sink, for her part, only mentioned one specific storyline when referring to how her character got physical in Season 5, and that storyline directly relates to Max’s favorite song. Here’s how she put it:
However, she went on to say that the week of filming before was particularly active and she forgot how busy it can be. Such a large cast means quite a bit of downtime for some actors, depending on which characters appear together in the scenes. So it sounds like there will be a lot of action involving Max in at least one episode. Hopefully without any heartbreaking scenes.
Let’s hope the worst that can happen is that her Walkman breaks. Sure, that would be annoying, but it’s better to have to buy a new cassette player than attend a friend’s funeral. At least we don’t have to worry about Will’s hair anymore, thanks to his new hairstyleAnd I think we don’t have to worry about Stranger Things no special candle linebecause that is the case now.
We are still waiting for a premiere date for season 5 of Stranger Thingsbut look at what the Duffer brothers are working on next in the meantime.
