The former Ohio State football player’s season could be over before it even begins

While the college football season is upon us, so is the NFL season, which begins in less than a month. As such, teams across the league have begun playing their first preseason games of the year, including former Ohio State University football players across the league.

On Friday we saw two former Buckeyes compete against each other. On Saturday, more Buckeyes played. Some of them have established themselves on their respective teams, while others are still fighting for spots on the roster. One former Buckeye was actually allowed to start on Saturday because the regular starters sat out.

That former Buckeye is center Luke Wypler. Wypler was selected in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns in 2023. Wypler is Cleveland’s backup center and is still fighting to cement his spot on the roster. Unfortunately, his season could be over before it even begins.

During Wypler’s first preseason game, the former Ohio State Buckeye injured his ankle. Unfortunately, the injury was so severe that his leg had to be immobilized. He was carried off the field and it doesn’t look like he’ll be back anytime soon.

Unfortunately, it looks like Wypler’s season is over before it even started. Anytime he has to wear an air cast, it’s a bad sign. Usually it means he just sustained a season-ending injury. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looks and Wypler can come back.

If that doesn’t happen, Wypler could be out of a roster at the end of the year. The Browns will have to sign someone else to take his place as backup. If he practices well, Wypler could leave Cleveland. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.
