Between Thursday, August 1, and Wednesday, August 7, a total of 17 criminal hearings took place in Van Wert District Court. Judge Martin Burchfield presided over all but one hearing.
Indictment
Caitlin Murphy, 22, of Ohio City, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. She was released on bail and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m.
Eric Hohman, 35, of Van Wert, pleaded not guilty to strangulation, a fourth-degree felony; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and failure to obey an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 4 at 9 a.m.
Amanda Trejo, 41, of Convoy, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony, and trespassing in the presence or probable presence of a person, a fourth-degree felony. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety, with a no-contact order. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, at 8:30 a.m.
Gary Yates, 40, of Van Wert, pleaded not guilty to failure to report a change of address, a third-degree felony. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 21.
James King, 55, of Celina, pleaded not guilty to grand larceny, a fourth-degree felony. He was released on bail and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 4 at 8 a.m.
Eric Braun, 53, of Ohio City, pleaded not guilty to strangulation, a fifth-degree felony, and assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was released on bail and ordered to have no contact with the victim. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
Dustin Cooper, 40, of London, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, and aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony. He was released on bail and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m.
