The most expensive Civic Type R FK8 is also the cheapest

The special Honda Civic Type R FK8 is still quite expensive as a used car. And cheap.

The FK8 generation of the Honda Civic Type R (the second to last) is perhaps the most special of the series. Not even because of its cult status or anything, no, just really special. The standard Civic was already a wild thing and the FK8 with its oversized spoiler and splitters and crazy stuff was controversial to say the least. Some people argue that hot hatches are allowed to be crazy, others think it’s just a crazy, over-designed machine.

Most expensive and cheapest Civic FK8

We find this Honda Civic Type R FK8 on Marktplaats. What a coincidence: it’s the most expensive example we could find. Although that’s no coincidence, because it’s also the cheapest. Yes, it’s the only one.

You really want a Civic Type R in Championship White, but that black color helps to somewhat hide the intrusive design details. Just like any FK8, you get all sorts of red Type R-style details. The badge, the Type R logo, a line on the splitters and around the rims. Oh, and bright red seats.

Racing driver

The overall package is what we know from the FK8. It all feels really intense, almost like a kind of racing car. Thick bucket seats, thick spoilers and of course that engine. The K20C1 four-cylinder with 320 hp was a special engine for the Civic. With a manual transmission, of course.

The Honda Civic Type R FK8 was a unique choice in its day, to say the least. Whether you like it or not is up to you. We do find the most expensive and cheapest Civic FK8 a bit pricey, though: this 2018 model with 43,871 km on the clock should fetch 42,950 euros. New, it costs 57,790 euros, even though it’s an import. In the Netherlands, you could get into a Type R GT for no less than 63,500 euros.
