The Sword and Shield era features some incredibly valuable sets, some of which help revive the popularity of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Unless you’re talking about the valuable cards from the original Base Set, the first trading card set of each Pokémon generation, its Base Set, usually has a slow start to the generation.

10 Morpeko VMAX (Secret Rare) – $7.85

Morpeko is the first Rainbow Secret Rare to mark the Sword and Shield era, and while it can ruin a design at its worst, this Morpeko benefits from the polychromatic palette.
While the Rainbow Secret Rare style was a hallmark of the best sets of the Sun and Moon era, the fundamental change to the card makes it a rarity that divides opinions, thus leading to price drops or increases depending on how the rainbow pattern works with the Pokémon.
Morpeko’s originally muted color palette allows room for recoloration, making it a prime example of how to produce a beautiful and popular Rainbow Secret Rare.
9 Relaxo V (Fullscreen) – $8.73
Run into a wall
Despite the tremendous momentum that Snorlax seems to build with the striking red and yellow color palette of this card, this Snorlax-V does not reach the double digits.
While it may not reach the heights reached by other Pokémon in this set, Snorlax is gearing up for another successful run at the top spots, as this won’t be the last we’ll see of this sleepy Pokémon.
8 Lapras VMAX (Secret Rare) – $10.29

Lapras leads the way over the ten dollar mark as this Gigantamax Pokémon chooses a beautiful pose to perfectly capture all of its detailed features in a Rainbow Secret Rare. The first of two Gigantamax Pokémon to be released under the most valuable Sword & Shield base set cards, Lapras faces strong competition for the top spots.

7 Zamazenta V (Secret Rare) – $10.76

The Shield Pokémon settles for a solid result, beating Lapras by less than a dollar to give it a leg up on the Ice Pokémon. This Gold Secret Rare is the second variant of Secret Rares in this set, and features a gold makeover instead of a rainbow recolor.
Zamazenta is the less popular legend next to Zacian because the sword-wielding wolf has a higher overall value.
While Zamazenta is on a similar downward trend to many of the cards in the Sword & Shield base set, it seems to be on an upward trend again. with the aim of surpassing the previous high of around $14.
6 Swift Ball (Secret Rare) – $10.88
A race to the top
The Gold Secret Rare Quick Ball surprises everyone with its sudden appearance among the most expensive cards in the Sword & Shield base set.
While trainer items often go unnoticed on the sidelines,
certain iconic items, especially Pokéball variants,
can exceed expectations and lead to unexpected profits.
The Quick Ball has the narrowest lead on this list because it is just under 15 cents ahead of Zamazenta, So there is still plenty of room for a significant shake-up as sales continue to come in. While his victory may be short-lived, Quick Ball has impressed us all.
5 Zacian V (Secret Rare) – $12.37
A Golden Zacian Grail
The Zacian V Gold Secret Rare is one of the most valuable Zacian cards to date, and while there will likely be many more cards of this Pokémon in the future, few will rival the debut releases. Zacian is almost two dollars above Zamazenta, This may not seem like much, but it is roughly equivalent to one 20 percent price difference in these areas.
Unsurprisingly, Zacian is suffering from the same price drop as most other cards so far, as it continues to fall from previous highs, this time at $16. Despite only being a little over three dollars lower, Zacian has shown no signs of recovery yet.
4 Marnie (Secret Rare) – $14.54
Rainbows fading into the past
Marnie’s Rainbow Secret Rare variant shines with its vibrant polychromatic shimmer and, against all odds, makes it into the top 5 most valuable cards in the Sword & Shield base set. While Secret Rare Trainer cards don’t usually attract the same interest as the full-art versions, this card continues to command a respectable price.

Despite its striking composition, however, this card is surpassed by another upcoming Snorlax.

2 Marnie (Fullscreen) – $34.34
The Queen’s Coronation Card
This great Marnie card maneuvers itself into the top three most valuable cards in the Sword & Shield base set, beats the legendary items Zacian and Zamazenta in total price and popularity. Full-art Trainer cards always have a high price cap, and Marnie is no exception to this rule.
This card was capped at around $65 in 2023, but has seen a catastrophic price drop, dropping over $30 to its current price. While the ups and downs of the Pokemon market are nothing new, this Marnie card could be waiting for a big price increase.
1 Snorlax VMAX (Secret Rare) – $48.98
A Gigantamax Grail
The second Snorlax VMAX surpasses the standard Ultra Rare artwork, as this Rainbow Secret Rare is leagues ahead of its closest competitors. and has a double-digit lead over Marnie as the most expensive property.
For comparison, the difference of about $14 that separates Snorlax from second place is higher than the value of the first six cards on this list.
One look at this card answers all questions, however, as its beautiful cacophony of colors and the excellent contrast between the cheerful rainbow and Snorlax’s intense expression give this card a lot to appreciate. Although its surge is slowly winding down, this card jumped from under $25 to its incredible current high.
