Some parents overprotect their children so much that their reaction to certain situations is almost stupid.

This girl had to deal with an annoying mother whose daughter had stolen something…

… and then wanted someone else to pay for the repairs.

Check out the full story!

My (25-year-old) neighbor (42-year-old) has a daughter, Ann (14-year-old), who is a pretty nice kid. She comes over to say hello quite often, and I let her stay with me for an hour or two on some rare days when I’m working on a project that might interest her.

It’s important to note that I have neon-colored hair that I dye frequently, and Ann loves it, even though her mom calls it “immature.”

The child really wanted to have his hair dyed!

Ann has asked me to dye her hair a few times and I have told her so, expressing my opinion that teenagers should be allowed to take control of their appearance.

Her mother’s opinion seemed pretty firm and it might be a better idea not to touch her hair until she grew up.

Today I was working in my office when someone banged on my door.

OHOH…

It was Ann and her mother.

Ann’s hair was a patchy pink, her hands and face were blotchy, and her cheeks were bright red from tears. Her mother hands me a box.

It was a jar of hair dye and a USPS box with my name on it.

Things got worse…

I ordered it last week because my current hair color is fading. To be clear, I did not give Ann this hair color and her mother does not blame me for doing so.

Ann actually admitted to stealing it when the mail came for our building.

Ann’s mother yelled at me and told me that I had encouraged Ann’s behavior and that I would pay every penny to change it.

She was willing to help the poor child.

I said I had the supplies needed to fix the problem for Ann (i.e. remove the stains and even out the color with the rest of the color) but that wasn’t good enough and her mom wants $200 to go to her personal hairdresser and have the problem professionally fixed.

I find this more than ridiculous for several reasons.

The mother was far too UNREASONABLE!

The dye I use penetrates very strongly, and there is quite a lot of it in her hair.

Without extensive chemical treatment, it will not come out cleanly, which will undoubtedly cause severe damage to her young hair and scalp.

Also, I don’t want to sound judgemental, but this woman does not have the hair of someone who works at an expensive hair salon.

I don’t think she’s even SEEN a stylist since the 2000s.

That sounds about right.

I know this lady quite well and wouldn’t be shocked if she didn’t charge an astronomical amount even though she plans on buying a pack of bleach and ruining her daughter’s hair worse than a hairdresser would.

I know that could still happen, but I really don’t want to be responsible for it.

She thinks.

Still, I feel bad and even my dad says I should just think about handing over the money.

WIBTA if I don’t do it???

YUCK! The poor child should have known better.
