The NY Islanders can now be watched on the Gotham Sports app

In the wake of the recent migration from cable television to streaming services, MSG Network and YES Network have teamed up to launch the Gotham Sports app.

The app is expected to be ready for the start of the NHL and NBA seasons and will be a one-stop shop for watching NY Islanders, Rangers, Devils, Knicks, Nets and Yankees games.

MSG and YES collaborate to develop the Gotham Sports app

According to the NY Post, an annual subscription for the MSG+ and YES packages costs $359.99, and a monthly subscription costs $41.99.

Alternatively, MSG+ alone costs $279.99 per year or $29.99 per month, while YES costs $239.99 per year or $24.99 per month.

“We are excited to offer fans in the New York metropolitan area their favorite teams in a state-of-the-art app with GAME,” said Andrea Greenberg, president and CEO of MSG Networks, in a press release. “With the increasing fragmentation of broadcasters carrying fans’ favorite sports programming, the Gotham Sports app provides fans of our teams an easy access point to sporting events in the New York metropolitan area from MSG Networks and the YES Network.”

The MSG+ app recently became available on Fire TV and Roku, but fans of New York sports now only need one app to watch all of their favorite teams.

With streaming services like YouTube TV or Direct TV Stream becoming more popular, there are many channels that people don’t necessarily watch. This allows sports fans to save money by blocking out the channels they don’t need without having to worry about missing a game.

For those old enough to remember, this isn’t the first time the Yankees and MSG have partnered, as MSG, along with WPIX, was the home of the Yankees from 1989 to 2001, prior to the formation of the YES Network.
