The Pixel Weather app is coming soon to the Pixel tablet

Google unveiled its latest Pixel smartphones called the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold earlier this week. Along with the revamped design and improved hardware, the new Pixels also come with a handful of new AI features. The search engine giant also introduced a brand new Pixel Weather app for the new phones that offers an AI weather overview.

Notably, Google is not limiting the Pixel Weather app to the Pixel 9, as it will soon be available on the Pixel tablet.

Pixel Tablet will soon receive the AI-powered Pixel Weather app

Google has updated a support article on its website explaining the new Pixel Weather app. The new article mentions that the new app is available for the Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel Tablet. The latest Weather app will be available on the Pixel 9 series smartphones at launch. Soon, Google will release the Pixel Weather app for the Pixel Tablet as well.

The Pixel Weather app’s new goodies could soon make their way to the Pixel 8 and older products. 9to5Google reports that most of the features, except for the AI Weather Report powered by Gemini Nano, will likely be available on older Pixels. The new weather features are expected to arrive in December’s Pixel Feature Drop update.

The new features could be added to the Weather app, which supports Google Clock integration. It is available on the Pixel 5a and newer. Notably, you can also sideload the app on non-Pixel phones. Recently, we were able to install it on the foldable flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The Pixel Weather app offers a custom AI weather report, 10-day forecast, weather map, and more

Google’s new Pixel Weather app offers a handful of useful features. You get a customizable details page, notifications, and a weather summary. It offers information like a 10-day forecast, AQI, humidity levels, and a map with a 6-hour precipitation forecast.

The app’s biggest highlight is an “AI weather report” based on the Gemini Nano model. The app lets you pull up a grid of Material You shapes for various things. In these maps, you can include precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset, UV index, visibility, pressure, and more details.

There’s also a useful weather map that offers a 6-hour precipitation forecast, based on the same models that power nowcasting. This feature will be available in the US, UK and most EU countries (except Italy, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein).
