The Preston Brown Foundation empowers children to become better people

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Former Bengals player and Cincinnati native Preston Brown started his foundation 5 years ago. Since then, it has helped many children in Cincinnati feel strong and capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds to.

“When I was growing up in the Cincinnati School District in College Hill, this opportunity wasn’t really there. Luckily, I had good parents that I could rely on. But now to see that what we’re doing is having an impact is great for these kids,” Brown says.

The Preston Brown Foundation has many different initiatives, all focused on improving the mental and physical health of children. They provide local students with healthy snacks, hydration, camps, mental health education, and self-care activities.

It also helps adults recognize signs and symptoms of health problems in children so they can provide them with helpful advice and resources. This way, adults can learn the best strategies to help children without judging them.

In one of the programs, Rally Champs, children are assigned adults who act as mentors. These mentors appear at the students’ performances or games to show support and cheer them on.

With mental health issues and suicide rates on the rise, Preston’s foundation is an important resource for children going through difficult times and helps promote health equity for all students, regardless of their circumstances.

Today, supporters of the mission celebrated the 5th anniversary at the “Color Me Happy” event. The community enjoyed music, mimosas and powerful messages. All proceeds benefit the mission.
