The Price Is Right had the tightest showcase offer ever and Drew Carey’s reaction was great

A lucky contestant on “The Price Is Right” made game show history when his winning bid for the prize package during the “Showcase Showdown” segment was just one dollar below the package’s retail price.

Patrice Masse of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, bid $39,500 on the June 7 episode of the show for a prize package that included a trip to Miami and a new car.

When presenter Drew Carey glanced at the package’s retail price on a card in his hand, he took a few steps back and gaped in amazement.

“So let me tell you. Let me just tell you: $39,501,” Carey said, causing Masse to sink to the ground in shock amid cheers from the crowd.

“Off by a dollar,” a stunned Carey continued before walking over to Masse to pat him on the shoulder.

“Without the slightest help from anyone in the audience,” Carey added.

“The Price Is Right” posted a video on Instagram showing Masse’s winning guess, which Carey called “in my opinion the best showcase bid in the history of the show.”

Masse’s wife Tina is seen jumping up and down excitedly before running onto the set of the show to hug her husband.

Masse ended up taking home prizes totaling $83,068.

“What an incredible moment on #PriceisRight today! Congratulations to Patrice – our jaws are still dropping!” the game show wrote alongside the video.

Fans of “The Price Is Right” also celebrated Masse’s historic moment in the comments on the video.

“When Drew came back you knew it was going to be GREAT! Love it! Congrats,” one commented.

“I looked at it this morning and it was crazy. Only a dollar off. It was great to watch and the look on Drew’s face,” wrote another.

Other fans pointed out that Masse’s offer for the Showcase Showdown was almostt perfect, another contestant guessed the exact selling price years ago at the Showcase Showdown. This controversial moment was examined in the 2017 documentary “Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much.”
