Nigerian mixed martial arts fighter Israel Adesanya failed in his attempt to regain the UFC middleweight title on Sunday after losing to Dricus Du Plessis.
The duel was decided in Australia when the reigning champion of this category successfully defended his title.
DDP, as the South African is affectionately called, defeated the “Last Stylebender” by submission (rear-naked choke) after 3:38 minutes in round 4.

Adesanya seemed to be winning the fight on points, but Du Plessis proved to be too clever in the fourth round to work the magic and win the fight.

Boxing expert Bamidele Bakare said the Nigerian fighter lost concentration during the fight.
Bakare said Legit.ng:
“He (Adesanya) was basically distracted. He should have concentrated more. He didn’t learn anything from the first takedowns.
“He should have known that DDP would be there anyway, and he should have known that this was his plan to corner him.”
Nigerian fans blame Drake
Meanwhile, social media is in chaos as fans from Nigeria continue to blame Drake for the loss of “Izzy.”
Canadian rapper Drake, who is also known for his high stakes in sporting events, had put his money on Adesanya.
Vanguard reports that the 37-year-old bet an incredible $450,000 on “Last Stylebender” to defeat UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis in the main event as part of the now infamous “Drake Curse.”
