The shaved bob is the versatile haircut that will take off this fall

The new hair trend for fall? Meet the cropped bob, a style that recently saw a 1,500 percent increase in searches on Pinterest and offers all the casual texture we need as the cooler months begin. Any type of bob works well in fall when turtlenecks and scarves come into play, but the cropped style also offers a natural, undone effect that can be washed and dried and still look great.

On the red carpet to celebrate the fourth season of Emily in Paris This week, Lily Collins debuted her own razor-cut bob – and it was pretty much perfect. Parted down the middle and tucked behind one ear, the cut sat a few inches above her shoulders and featured shaved ends and a tousled finish. The hairstylist behind the look, Gregory Russell, created a sleek part that faded into more structure towards the bottom.

George Northwood, London’s bob king, is also a fan of Collins’ look. But what exactly Is a razor-sharp bob? “Unlike bobs that are cut with scissors, this one is cut with a razor, which gives a slightly jagged, textured edge,” he explains. “It almost looks a bit ripped at the bottom, so it’s less harsh than a regular bob, which gives it a more modern feel.”
