Antonio “Tony” Aguirre, known to many as Tony, has been a dedicated city councilman in McAllen, Texas for three and a half years. Recently, Tony shared his thoughts and plans for the future on social media and announced his intention to run for re-election in 2025. In his heartfelt message, Tony expressed his continued commitment to the people of McAllen and emphasized his belief that “there is still time for Tony.”

“Three and a half years ago, I began serving you as a McAllen City Councilman, and I hope in 2025 you will agree that ‘it’s still time for Tony,'” he wrote, expressing his passion for public service and desire to continue his work on behalf of the community.

Even though the boundaries of District 1 have shifted, Tony assured his supporters that he will continue to advocate for all McAllen residents. “Even though the boundaries of D1 have changed, I remain committed to all McAllen residents, regardless of their district,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to inclusivity and meeting the needs of the city.

Responding to speculation about his political future, Tony clarified that he intends to remain in public service. “Several people have asked me recently if I plan to run for re-election, so this is just a quick message to let you know that I do,” he confirmed, making his plans public and urging the community to support him again.

As commissioner, Tony has stressed the importance of being accessible and responsive to the community. “I have done my best to respond to everyone who has contacted me with questions and concerns,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to being a proactive leader who listens to his constituents. He also thanked the city government’s support in addressing issues brought to his attention. “Our city government has responded appropriately when I have contacted them to address these questions and concerns,” Tony noted, introducing a blended approach to governance.
