These are some of the new foods at The Big E 2024

A reimagined Craz-E Burger, crepes, raw oysters and more are coming to The Big E in September.

The Big E in West Springfield is the largest fair in New England. It runs from September 13th to 29th and is expected to attract more than a million visitors over the 17 days.

The fair is known for its unique food offerings, which include a variety of pickle-themed dishes.

One of the big changes is that BLC Ventures LLC, operator of Big E Bakery, has completely renovated all of the permanent food vendor locations in the Better Living Center building, including the two former Glass House restaurants.

“Our goal is to transform the Better Living Center into a culinary destination,” said EJ Dean, owner of BLC Ventures LLC, in a press release. “We have created a unique experience at each location with something for everyone.”

The building will house The Emporium, home of the newly reimagined Craz-E Burger, which will feature an Angus beef “smash burger” topped with cheese, bacon and onion rings and placed between two full, freshly glazed donuts, according to a press release.

Other food options in the building include mini donuts, sweet and savory crepes, margaritas with cotton candy on top, and wine tastings.

Below is a list of some of the new foods available at the fair this year.

  • The newly designed Craz-E Burger is made from an Angus beef “smash burger,” topped with cheese, bacon and onion rings, and placed between two full, freshly glazed donuts. It will be found at The Emporium at the Better Living Center. The menu also includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, hot dogs and crispy chicken wraps.
  • New England coffee and locally made fresh mini donuts with four different sauces: Bavarian cream, strawberry jam, chocolate sauce and cinnamon sugar are available at Drribbles in the Better Living Center.
  • The Better Living Center at The Nook offers sweet and savory crepes such as strawberry, banana, Nutella, ham and cheese, and spinach and cheese crepes.
  • Fancy some margaritas with cotton candy on top? These drinks, as well as other specialty cocktails and beer, are available in the Cantina at the Better Living Center.
  • The Wine Loft, in partnership with Francis Ford Coppola Winery, will be housed in the former Sports Lounge on the second floor. It “will create an intimate and cozy experience with a wide selection of wines and wine tastings paired with charcuterie boards,” the press release states.
  • NOLA Cajun Kitchen and Raw Bar will be operated by Bill Collins of Center Square Grill in East Longmeadow. It will include a brand new kitchen, a beer garden with seating for up to 70 people along the front porch and a bar counter serving raw oysters, shrimp cocktails and clam towers, the press release said. It will be housed in the former Craz-E Burger building. Other menu items at NOLA Cajun Kitchen and Raw Bar include Maryland Cajun crab cakes, fried crawfish tails, Jamaican jerk chicken served with dirty rice, jambalaya, beignets and bread pudding.
  • The Mick Express offers daily takeout items such as cheeseburgers, Caesar salads, giant pretzels, chicken fingers, fries and pizza. It is located in the former West Side Grille location in the Young Building.
  • The press release states that the Dingle Distillery will feature a fully stocked bar with select cocktails.
  • Downeast Cider Airstream offers cider and beer.
