Things Americans most often forget when traveling – Fortunately, 23% have a “mom friend” who always remembers

Nine out of 10 Americans have experienced a Home Alone moment when they realized they forgot something important on the way to their destination, a new study finds.

While they don’t forget their children at home, over a third have forgotten a charger and a third have forgotten their toiletries and beauty products. 27% have forgotten their sunscreen and 18% have even forgotten to pack their medication.

This is according to a survey of 2,000 US adults which asked them about the most annoying things they have ever forgotten – including socks (17%), water bottles (14%) and even their wallet (8%).

Almost four in ten said they were more forgetful when travelling. On average, they left three items behind on each trip, forcing a quarter of them to spend money on purchasing alternative products.

Fortunately, 23% of respondents have a “friend” while traveling, someone who ensures that the group sticks together and stays happy and healthy.

And a quarter of respondents said that THEY are usually “the mother” of the group.

“Mothers’ friends” show their role by keeping supplies like napkins or bandages on hand and reminding everyone to eat and drink enough (35%) – two good habits that the survey found are often neglected when traveling.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? When does a trip become a vacation? Survey shows the difference for most Americans

The survey, commissioned by Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water and conducted by Talker Research, also found that two in five (40%) Americans struggle to stay hydrated while traveling. For 32%, this is primarily because they deviate from their usual routine or simply forget to drink, while others are more concerned with having fun (31%) or are too busy with other activities (31%).

“Everyone knows that summer brings travel and fun, but also higher temperatures and a higher risk of dehydration,” says Anne-Charlotte de La Porte, Vice President of Marketing at CG Roxane.

She recommends monitoring how much water you drink each day (the survey found that only 22% of Americans do so) and setting reminders to help you stay on track.

Or you can always rely on the help of your “mother friend”…
