Whatever the case, there’s really no point sugarcoating it: those PC numbers are awful. As predicted, it’s been particularly poor on Steam, where it only reached 697 concurrent players at its peak.
That’s significantly lower than other high-profile flops like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (which peaked at 13,459 players) and Redfall (which peaked at 6,124 players). The other big release this week, Black Myth: Wukong, peaked at 2.4 million players. That’s not a fair comparison, as it’s a completely different type of game, but it puts things into perspective.
It is worth noting that these figures only account for Steam, and judging by our anecdotal observations, there are clearly more people are playing on PS5. Although crossplay can be disabled, we left it on and almost all Players will have a PlayStation logo next to their username on the score screen. Of course, this is just an indication, and we still don’t know for sure How many play on Sony’s system.
