Things to do in Wichita Falls this weekend, August 22-25

Several thousand more people than the usual 100,000 or so are expected to flock to the city when Hotter’N Hell Hundred kicks off with a full program of events starting Thursday.

Named the “Best Road Cycling Event of 2024” by USA Today, HHH offers opportunities for cyclists, gravel road lovers, runners, kids and people who like spaghetti and breakfast – no bike or running shoes required.

A program of spectator events gives locals and others a chance to watch the fun without joining in. One thing is for sure: everyone should take precautions to protect themselves from the heat. The National Weather Service is predicting high temperatures between 102 and 106 degrees this weekend.

Also remember that you are sharing the road with cyclists and be extra alert in general.

If you’re not a HHH enthusiast or prefer to avoid the crowds, there are still plenty of things to do in Wichita Falls.

These include a 50 Plus Zone flea market, live music, art exhibitions, the premiere of “The Grown-ups” on the Backdoor Theater’s Dinner Stage, a Hello Kitty pop-up and, well, the list goes on.
