Thomas Wayne Maldovan, 80, of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Tom served in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

He returned to Woodside, his birthplace, and worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years.

His parents John and Lovetta Maldovan, his grandson Thomas Anthony and his siblings John, Richard and Edward had already died before him.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Azwell Maldovan, his son John Michael, his daughter Jeritta Gail, his grandson Clark (Trinity) Smith and their children Lennon, Gibson, Alylee and Walker, his brothers Gerald (Judy) and Franklin (Kathy), his sister Cynthia (Dan) Stanton, his fur baby Lady, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom served on the Navy Pistol Team and was known locally as an avid and skilled marksman, preferring to shoot only pests.

Until he was disabled by a stroke, Tom made beautiful leather goods by hand.

A long-time member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Tom has held a variety of positions including: deacon, board member, choir member, adult teacher, and bar attendant.

Cremation was arranged by the BERNARD TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME in Masontown. Tom’s family rejoices in the firm belief that he has joined God the Father and his Savior Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Bowser officiating, followed by dinner.
