Bayern Munich have finally managed to negotiate a deal for a big departure this summer. The Bavarian club agreed on a transfer fee with Manchester United on Saturday for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The former Ajax defenders will leave Bayern Munich early next week.
The Bavarian club do not need a replacement for Noussair Mazraoui as Josip Stanisic is in the squad for next season following a successful loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen. However, they definitely need to replace De Ligt as they currently have only three fit centre-backs in the squad.
The Reds have already signed Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart. The Japanese defender broke his foot during preseason and will therefore be out for several weeks. Since Bayern are competitive on all fronts, they need another central defender before the end of the transfer window.
Bayern have targeted Jonathan Tah as a replacement for De Ligt. However, Bayer Leverkusen had set a deadline earlier this week to complete the transfer. Tah remains keen to join the Reds, but it remains to be seen whether Bayer Leverkusen will agree to a transfer.
