Tickets for ice skating and the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center are now on sale

It’s almost time to slide and glide at the ice rink at Rockefeller Center.

When does the ice rink at Rockefeller Center open?

Skating at The Rink will resume on October 12, when the world’s most famous ice rink begins its 88th season. Tickets for the 2024-25 season are on sale now.

Events at Rockefeller Center during the Christmas season

The holiday season is a magical time at Rockefeller Center. Starting in September, Christmas ticket packages can be purchased in addition to ice skating packages.

Holiday ticket options include:

  • Professional photos taken in front of the iconic Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center
  • Reservations for the cozy après-skate vacation chalets at Rock Center with food, drinks and an unparalleled front row view of the Rockefeller Center ice rink and the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
  • A meeting and professional photos with Santa Claus
  • The VIP Rock Pass: Holiday Edition includes a guided tour of campus, express access to Top of the Rock and The Beam, professional family photos with the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, and exclusive access to a secret rooftop garden hidden above Rockefeller Center.

Until September, visitors can still enjoy the warm weather at the summer ice rink and dine outdoors with Jupiter and Naro.

This fall, skaters will step onto a campus that Rockefeller Center owner and operator Tishman Speyer has revitalized over the past five years. A new generation of acclaimed restaurants including Jupiter, Naro and Le Rock, New York City small businesses and artisan shopping options such as Catbird, McNally Jackson and Kule, reimagined office lobbies and public spaces, and the city’s leading public arts program have made Rockefeller Center a dynamic destination to explore, work, shop, dine and play.

Also opening this fall will be the crown jewel of Rockefeller Center’s revitalization, the Skylift, at the Top of the Rock observation deck. The new Skylift experience will lift visitors nearly 900 feet in the air and slowly rotate to provide spectacular, completely unobstructed 360-degree views of the New York City skyline unlike anything else. It follows The Beam, an interactive photo experience on the 69th Floor in the building 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where the famous photograph “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper” from 1932 is recreated.

Visitors to the center can enjoy art, shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment in one legendary space.

Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center

The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place on December 4. The date follows the tradition of holding the event on the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving, which this year falls on November 28. Each year, the tree is decorated with more than 50,000 LED lights.

Tickets for The Rink at Rockefeller Center start at $21 per person, with discounts for groups of 10 or more, skate rental not included. Season passes and private events are also available. For tickets, visit rockefellercenter.com/buy-tickets/#the-rink.
