The Giants will be on the road for the first time in 2024 when they travel to Houston to face the Texans in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
Even though none of the G-Men’s regular players saw much playing time in Week 1 and first-round pick Malik Nabers only played a handful of snaps, the 14-3 victory over the Lions in front of more than 75,000 fans at MetLife Stadium on August 8 was still an encouraging result for the organization.
The headline piece in the win over Detroit was the running back room. Undrafted rookie Dante “Turbo” Miller rushed for 63 yards on 12 carries, the highest of the game, and 2023 fifth-round pick Eric Gray scored two touchdowns, including a 48-yard run into the end zone that gave Big Blue a 7-3 lead midway through the first half.
The Giants and Texans will meet for the first time since November 13, 2022. In that short time, Houston has become one of the favorites for the Super Bowl. The Texans are led by QB CJ Stroud, the second overall pick in 2023, who is coming off a successful rookie season in which he led the team from worst to best in the AFC South (3-13-1 in 2022 to 10-7 in 2023), their first playoff appearance since 2019, and took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Stroud enters this season with the second-lowest consensus odds at New Jersey sportsbooks to be named NFL MVP (+850), behind only reigning MVP Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (+475).
