It’s official: Tinder is now the top-grossing app in Apple’s App Store, overtaking popular apps like Candy Crush and Netflix.
The dating app’s rise to the top of the charts is due to the global launch of “Tinder Gold” last Tuesday.
This is impressive considering how tough the competition Tinder faces in the dating app market, from companies like Happn, Bumble, The League, and many others.
Tinder Gold allows users to see who has already liked them on the app without having to spend hours swiping through people’s profiles.
The new “Likes You” feature, part of Tinder Gold, is designed to speed up the matchmaking process by allowing users to see who has swiped right on their profile.
Tinder was free for most of its existence, but in 2015 it introduced a paid version called Tinder Plus, which allowed users to view profiles of people in other locations and “rewind” if they accidentally swiped left on someone they liked.
Tinder Plus costs $9.99 in the US, while Tinder Gold costs $14.99. There’s also “Tinder Boost,” which allows singles to skip the line. Business Insider UK asked Tinder about pricing in the UK.

The Los Angeles-based company has also integrated ads into its feed to increase revenue.
Tinder announced in June that it would test Tinder Gold in Argentina, Australia, Canada and Mexico before launching globally.
