Titans place rookie LB Cedric Gray on the injured list, but hope to get him back at some point

NASHVILLE – The Titans plan to place rookie linebacker Cedric Gray on the injured list.

Titans general manager Ran Carthon announced the news at a press conference on Wednesday where he discussed a number of roster changes.

Gray, the team’s third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from North Carolina, is dealing with a shoulder injury. The injury is nerve-related, coach Brian Callahan said previously.

“I have some news to share,” Carthon said. “Sources indicate that we’re going to place Cedric Gray on the injured list, designated for return, just to give him an opportunity to get healthy.”

“(I) spoke to Cedric this morning. He’s one of those guys that you have to protect from himself because he wants to prove that he wants to be on this team and he’s earned the right to be on this team. Given the nature of his injury, we just have to protect him from himself and give him an even longer time to get healthy for us.”

On Wednesday, the Titans officially signed former Rams linebacker Ernest Jones IV through a trade.

The team signed Kenneth Murray Jr. earlier in the offseason and he has already emerged as one of the team’s defensive leaders. The Titans also have inside linebackers Jack Gibbens, Luke Gifford, Otis Reese IV and James Williams on the team’s 53-man roster.
