Top Ohio State playmaker reveals great qualities in Will Howard

The Ohio State Buckeyes have not officially announced their starting quarterback yet, but the general consensus is that it will be Will Howard.

Top first-year wide receiver Jeremiah Smith likes what he hears from Howard, and there’s one thing he particularly likes about the signal-caller: his ability to talk nonsense.

“He’s definitely made a big jump since the spring,” Smith said of Howard, of Eleven Warriors’ Chase Brown. “I like his confidence. He’s starting to talk more — talk some nonsense on the field. That’s what I like about my quarterback.”

While too much bravado can be detrimental, it’s always nice to see your quarterback show off a little bit of cockiness, and Howard has seemingly demonstrated that and more in the lead-up to the 2024 regular season.

Howard transferred from Kansas State and is fresh off the 2023 season in which he threw for 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and completed 61.3 percent of his passes. He also ran for 351 yards and scored nine touchdowns.

While these numbers aren’t exactly impressive, it’s important to remember that Kansas State doesn’t have nearly the same talent as Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are widely believed to have the most talented roster in the country in 2024, and the aforementioned Smith is a big part of that.

Howard has a very good arm and solid mobility in and out of the pocket, so he brings some dual-threat action to Ohio State.

We’ll see if Howard gets the starting quarterback job and if so, if he can lead the Buckeyes to their first national championship in a decade.

And of course all talking nonsense.
