Travis Kelce says he has “fun” with his beard and is like a “different character” with the “moustache”

Travis Kelce reveals what inspired his mustache.

During the premiere of the third season on Wednesday, August 28, New heights with Jason and Travis Kelce On the podcast, 34-year-old Travis talked about bringing back his facial hair to prepare for the 2024-2025 NFL season.

“I always do the Andy Reid special, baby,” said the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, referring to his team’s head coach, who also has a mustache.

“But I’ve grown my hair out. I’ve changed it… I don’t have a buzz cut,” Travis added, saying he previously had a shorter hairstyle.

“I’m not a Super Trooper, I’m more… kind of another character with the mustache,” he continued, appearing to refer to the beard seen in the 2001 film. Super Troopers.

Travis continued, “But yeah, I’m just having fun doing it. And while I’m in training camp, I really don’t care what I look like. I just want to be there and try to make it the most enjoyable experience ever.”

The football star pointed out that he has “officially spent a full year” of his life at the Chiefs’ training camp in St. Joseph at Missouri Western State University before entering his 12th season with the team in 2024.

“I’ve been sitting in the same dorm room at Missouri Western State University for 12 years,” Travis commented. “Every time I do that, I feel like I’m going to prison, but right now it’s like a sanctuary for me.”

“I can work on my skills and not have to think about anything else that’s going on. And I can really improve my athletic ability, man,” he continued, adding, “I’ve learned to love it out there. Really. So I say this, and it doesn’t sound very appealing, but I really love it out there.”

The Chiefs have played three preseason games and the regular season begins on September 5th when the team plays the Baltimore Ravens.

Travis’ comments on his mustache come after his latest look was unveiled on July 21 when he appeared in a video shared on Instagram with his Chiefs teammates at training camp.

The team captioned two photos and a video in which Travis thanks the fans for coming and cheering him on with “KILLA STACHE IS BACK 👨🏻”

The NFL star, who has worn a variety of facial hair looks over the years, previously joked in an episode of his New heights In a podcast, he said the mustache was specifically for times when he “doesn’t have any paying gigs or anything where I have to work with a company and look presentable.”
