In Things To Do, we take a look at what’s happening each week in the greater Fall River and South Shore area. From weekdays to weekends, there’s always a lot going on.

And not only do we take a look at what’s happening this week, but we’ll also give you a heads up about upcoming events.

This week, there’s karaoke aboard Fall River’s streetcar, concerts, the chance to meet a sculptor or sing along with a choir, and a celebration of Central American and other cuisines common in Spanish-speaking countries.

So when someone asks you what you want to do, you already have your plans ready.

Here are the things to do this week around Fall River, the South Shore and beyond:

Trolleyoke Tuesday at Gates of the City: Karaoke on board the Fall River streetcar

How about a karaoke night aboard the Fall River Trolley?

Trolleyoke Tuesday takes place on Tuesday, August 13th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and boarding is possible at the city gates.

Spend an evening of refreshments and singing at Viva Fall River.

For $20, participants receive a ticket for onboard karaoke and light snacks at Dunny’s BBQ and Primo on Water Street. Drinks are not included and must be purchased. Check-in and boarding take place at the city gates, and then the trolley departs.

This event is for persons aged 18 and over.

Viva Fall River will email participants with song selections prior to the event so they can prepare.

Upcoming concerts at the Narrows Center for the Arts

There will be several upcoming concerts at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River.

Blues singer-songwriter Sue Foley will be there on Thursday, August 15th from 8-10pm. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $33 in advance and $38 day of the show. Tickets can be found online at https://tinyurl.com/yc27ef6a.

Roots musicians Honey Island Swamp Band will perform at the Narrows on Friday, August 16th from 8-10pm. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $35 in advance and $38 day of the show. Tickets can be found online at https://tinyurl.com/mpmtp5hn.

Permanent vacation at Aerosmith: Fall River combines the band’s early days with their greatest hits

Mosaic Jazz Quartet at the Greater Fall River Art Association

The Mosaic Jazz Quartet will perform on Sunday, August 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Greater Fall River Art Association Gallery, 80 Belmont St.

Tickets are $10 and payable at the door.

Patio de Comidas in New Bedford’s Riverside Park

There’s still time to enjoy Patio de Comidas, an outdoor prepared food patio in New Bedford’s Riverside Park, which offers Central American and other cuisines common in Spanish-speaking countries.

The climax is later this month with the Tipico Guatemalteco festival, which celebrates Guatemalan culture with music, dance, art and food.

The next events will take place on Saturday, August 17th and 24th, with the event on August 24th coinciding with the Festival Tipico Guatemalteco.

The Patio de Comidas events will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at the Bullard Street and Belleville Avenue entrance.

Meet the sculptor at Tiverton Four Corners Sculpture Park

Meet guest sculptor Peter Morse during the South Coast Artist Tour.

Tiverton Four Corners Sculpture Park is hosting a meet and greet with the sculptor on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30am.

The park is home to “Ars Terra,” featuring outdoor installations by Morse.

“Meet the Sculptor” takes place on the grounds of The Sculpture House, 3850 Main Road, Tiverton, is free and open to the public during daylight hours.

The installation will be on display at the sculpture site until October 31st.

Free concerts in Rehoboth

There are several more free concerts taking place in Rehoboth this season.

Free concerts are held on Sundays at Redway Plain, 401 Winthrop St.

The next concerts are: Mike Higgins & The Dynamics on August 18th, Jesse L. Gauthier on August 25th and Neil & The Vipers on September 1st.

In case of rain, the concerts will take place at the old Francis Farm, 27 Francis Farm Road.

Concertgoers can look forward to food trucks such as Shiny Griddle, KC Katering and Palagi Bros.

The concerts are sponsored by Propane Plus, the Rehoboth Park Commission and the Rehoboth Cultural Council.

Open rehearsals with the Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus

The Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus invites new singers to attend open rehearsals and learn more about the choir.

They are preparing for their 2024 Christmas concert season, “Holiday Treat,” featuring songs such as “Silver and Gold,” “Believe,” “Somewhere in My Memory,” and “We Need a Little Christmas.” SMFC Bronze will sing pieces such as “Silver Bells,” “Christmas Toys on Parade,” and “Nutcracker Sweets.”

The concerts will be accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra and performances are scheduled for December 14 and 15.

Public rehearsals will be held Monday, August 19, and Monday, August 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at First Congregational (Stone) Church, 785 S. Main St., Raynham.

Following each of these rehearsals, a short, informal audition takes place.

There are places for all vocal ranges.
