Two ICE detention center inmates treated for “non-life-threatening injuries”

Officials in Clearfield County say two detainees at the ICE processing center in Moshannon Valley are being treated for “non-life-threatening” injuries following an alleged incident at the facility.

Philipsburg-area fire officials said multiple rescue crews were dispatched to the ICE processing center in Decatur Township Monday afternoon.

Local authorities said state police are investigating the incident, but further details have not been released.

6 News has also reached out to the Department of Homeland Security, which is working to provide additional information.

The facility, which was formerly the Moshannon Valley Prison, was converted into an immigration detention center in 2021.

It is operated by the private GEO Group on behalf of the federal government.

According to the Philipsburg Fire Department, multiple rescue crews were dispatched to a reported incident at the Moshannon Valley ICE Processing Center in Decatur Township.

Details are limited at this time, but Hope Fire Company officials said more than a half-dozen Philipsburg-area rescue units and a LifeFlight crew were called to the scene.

The Moshannon Valley ICE Processing Center, the site of the former Mo Valley Jail, is an immigration detention facility that can hold over 1,000 migrants and is operated by the private GEO Group.

6 News has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security and State Police for more information on the incident.

We also tried to contact the facility directly, but were “immediately disconnected” after identifying ourselves and stating the reason for our call.

When we contacted county emergency officials, we were told they were not authorized to release any information about the incident.
