Two people found shot in vehicle near Tonkel Road

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says it is investigating the deaths of two people found in a vehicle off Tonkel Road early Monday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., police officers were dispatched to a street near Hursh Road because a vehicle had crashed into a guardrail. As they approached, they found two people inside who appeared to have been shot.

Both passengers were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Their identities have not yet been determined.

According to the sheriff, two long guns were also found in the vehicle. The press and public release also stated that there was no danger to the public.

Tonkel Road from Hosler to Hursh was closed for about four hours for the investigation.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department announced:

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 3:59 a.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of ​​Tonkel Road between Hursh Road and Hosler Road for a vehicle in the guardrail. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the guardrail with two people inside. The adult male and adult female in the vehicle appeared to have gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead by paramedics on scene. Two long guns were found in the vehicle.

There is currently no danger to the public. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident involving only the two people in the vehicle.

Tonkel Road reopened shortly before 8:00 a.m.

This incident remains under investigation.
