UFC 305 Cold Open Video: Watch This Hair-Raising PPV Opener for Du Plessis vs. Adesanya

One of the biggest rivalries in recent times will finally spill over into the Octagon tonight (Sat., August 17, 2024) at UFC 305 LIVE on ESPN+ from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, as former middleweight king Israel Adesanya returns after a one-year hiatus to challenge current UFC titleholder Dricus du Plessis for the undisputed crown in the 185-pound division.

This main event between du Plessis and Adesanya has been a long time coming. The two middleweights were scheduled to meet at UFC 293 last September, but du Plessis wasn’t ready in time and Sean Strickland eventually stepped in. Strickland defeated Adesanya by decision and then lost the UFC middleweight title to du Plessis at UFC 297 last January. Tonight at UFC 305, the match comes full circle.

Luckily for combat sports fans, the fun doesn’t stop there. The UFC 305 PPV main card will also feature a crucial flyweight bout between former title challenger Steve Erceg and perennial contender Kai Kara-France. Not to mention a lightweight bout pitting rising contender Mateusz Gamrot against a resurgent Dan Hooker.

Ahead of tonight’s action, the promoter has released the official UFC 305 “Cold Open” video preview. As always, the promo montage features commentary from actor Ron Perlman and offers great build-up to tonight’s main attractions. Watch it in the video player above and don’t miss a second of tonight’s PPV action at UFC 305.
