UFC Vegas 95 Fight Card Preview, Odds and Predictions: Tybura vs. Spivac 2

The next fight card on the UFC schedule, UFC Vegas 95, takes place on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main event of UFC Fight Night is a heavyweight rematch between Marcin Tybura and Serghei Spivac, two top-10 ranked fighters.

The UFC Vegas 95 main card will air on ESPN+ on August 10 at 7 p.m. ET, followed by prelims on the same streaming service at 5 p.m. ET.

Career

Marcin Tybura

Tybura (25-8) is the No. 8 fighter in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. He joined the UFC in April 2016 after winning and defending the M1 Global heavyweight title.

Tybura had a tough time in his first three years in the promotion, going 4-5 before facing Spivac at a UFC Fight Night in February 2020.

Wins over Spivac, Maxim Grishin, Ben Rothwell and Greg Hardy moved Tybura to No. 11 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. A TKO over Walt Harris in June 2021 moved Tybura up to No. 8 and pitted him against No. 5-ranked Alexander Volkov. Volkov won that fight by decision.

Since that loss, Tybura, 38, has a 3-1 record. His only loss during that span was a knockout setback in July 2023 to current interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Tybura is coming off a technical submission win over Tai Tuivasa in March.

Sergei Spivac

Spivac (16-4) is ranked No. 9 in the UFC’s heavyweight division and has been with the UFC since May 2019 when he signed with the promotion with a 9-0 record and two defenses of the WWFC heavyweight title on his resume.

Spivac began his UFC career 1-2, but things have been going much better for him since his loss to Tybura in 2020. Wins over Carlos Felipe, Jared Vanderaa and Aleksei Oleinik pushed him up to No. 14 in the rankings. However, his winning streak and brief stay as a top-ranked UFC heavyweight ended in his next appearance when Aspinall, ranked No. 13 at the time, knocked out Spivac in September 2021.

Knockout victories over Greg Hardy and Augusto Sakai saw Spivac return to the rankings. A submission win over Derrick Lewis in February 2023 moved Spivac to No. 7 in the division, but a knockout loss to Ciryl Gane in September 2023 dropped him to No. 9.

Saturday’s clash will be Spivac’s first appearance in the Octagon, where he lost to Gane.
