Winner: Serghei Spivac

Who he should face next: Jailton Almeida

Spivac improved his current record to 4-1 in his last five fights after a quick knockout of Marcin Tybura, and he could expect to move up at least one spot in the rankings. Next up is a fight against Jailton Almeidawho is currently ranked No. 7 could be in the mix. Almeida is coming off a submission win of his own, having forced Alexander Romanov via first-round submission at UFC 302 (watch it again here). A win for either man puts them close to the top five.

UFC Fight Night: Jackson vs. Mariscal

Winner: Chepe Mariscal

Who he should face next: Ludovit Klein

Mariscal saved a bit of face after moving up to overweight for his fight against Damon Jackson by winning by unanimous decision, extending his winning streak to seven in a row, including four in the Octagon. The problem with Mariscal is that, aside from competing heavy, he keeps moving up from featherweight to lightweight, so he needs to pick a division once and for all and stick with it, and judging by his standards, it has to be lightweight. Next up, a showdown against Klein makes sense, as both men are red hot and trying hard to get into the top 15. Klein is coming off a win. Thiago Moises earlier this year and improved his winning streak to 5-0-1 in his last six fights.

UFC Fight Night: Barlow vs. Veretennikov

Winner: Danny Barlow

Who he should face next: Sam Patterson

Barlow extended his unbeaten streak to 9-0, 2-0 UFC by winning the debut of Nikolai Veretennikov with a razor-thin split decision victory. “Left Hand 2 God” has more than proven himself so far, but the challenges are getting bigger and tougher. A fight against Patterson sounds just right. Patterson has currently won two fights in a row and is 2-1 under the UFC banner, with his most recent win against Kiefer Crosbie by submission in the first round at UFC 304.

Winner: Chris Gutierrez

Who he should face next: Javid Basharat

Gutierrez was originally scheduled to face Basharat at the event, but unfortunately had to pull out of the fight due to injury. Gutierrez stayed on the card and defeated the UFC newcomer Quang Le vi unanimous decision. I still have a feeling there will be a showdown between Gutierrez and Basharat later this year.

UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Chandler

Winner: Yana Santos

Who she should face next: Julia Avila

Santos secured the much-needed victory by defeating Chelsea Chandler by unanimous decision, ending her three-fight losing streak and perhaps saving her UFC career. The 12th-ranked bantamweight will indeed fight one more day in the Octagon, and that challenge could be against Avila, who is ranked right behind her at 13th. Avila is coming off a third-round submission loss to the former division champion, Miesha Tatein December 2023, so she needs a win as she is 1-2 in her last three fights.

UFC Fight Night: Kazama vs. Grigoriou

Winner: Toshiomi Kazama

Who he should face next: Cody Gibson

Kazama got the much needed win by coming back from behind against Georgios Charalampos. Kazama came into the fight having lost his first two UFC fights via first-round technical knockout (TKO). A fight against Gibson makes sense as he too recently snapped his two-fight losing streak with a big win over Brian Kelleherand suffocated him last month.
